Sunshines spring is here! I am so excited to not wear jackets anymore. I'm especially elated to take some trips. As adults, we don't have a chance to go on a Spring Break Holiday like in college or high school. The good news is that you can take your mini "Spring Break" whenever. Of course, you should plan accordingly to your life. If you can't take an extended trip. I highly recommend taking a day trip. A day trip is quick, easy, and affordable. I recommend going to a nearby city. I've taken a few day trips like in Fredericksburg, Austin, and Seattle.
Day Trips for 2021
Fredericksburg
I took my first official day trip of 2021 to Fredericksburg, TX. My friend and I wanted to take a day trip because it was her college spring break. We wanted to go to a new city that both of us haven't gone to. So we decided to go to Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg is like an old German town. There are many places that we saw that were named in German. I could barely pronounce most of the food on the menu. But it is always fun to try pronouncing something new.
If you enjoy hiking or exercise, I highly recommend that you research parks, trails, and nature adventures before going on your day trip. The first thing that we did was a hike at Old Tunnel park. Old Tunnel Park is free for admission, but Enchanted Rock which is another park in Fredericksburg, has to be booked ahead of time for you to get your proper date of the trip. However, Old Tunnel was so much fun, and boy, did I get a workout in.
Then after our hike, we ate at Alamo Springs Cafe. It was so spontaneous that we went there because it was not part of the plan and it was next to the park, how convenient. I am happy we went there. Sometimes it is good to divert from your plans and try something out of the ordinary. Before we went in looked at the menu and found out that they had the best burgers in Fredericksburg. Overall, they had excellent service and great burgers. I highly recommend trying their Portabella burgers and fried mushrooms.
Austin
My first ever day trip was in Austin in January 2018. I was very nervous because I had never driven for 2 hours straight and you know the road trip nerves. By the grace of God, my friends and I made it safely. Now I have driven to Austin 3 times with friends, and it's been a breeze. I've always had the best times there. There are many things you can do in Austin. You can go hiking to the Barton Creek Greenbelt, Zilker Park, visit the State Capitol, and so much more.
My favorite part of the trip was going to Bouldin Creek. It is a vegan restaurant that serves excellent food. Their vegan bacon tastes just like real bacon. The food was unreal. I absolutely love the fact that they have an awesome mural.
Another great place to visit in Austin is Graffiti Park. My cousins and I took many pics and videos of our time there. The good thing is that there was spray paint all around the place. There were a lot of paintings and murals around. I actually went there again in March 2018. I have a whole YouTube video of the day trip in Austin. Seattle
Last year (2020), I visited my older sister Ana with my other sisters in Silverdale, WA. We decided to go on a day trip to Seattle, which is an hour away from Silverdale. It is kind of interesting that I traveled within the state. This would be one that you make a day trip by just traveling to a nearby city while you are visiting another state. We stayed at this really cute Airbnb. Seattle was interesting, to say the least.
My sisters and I did a lot of sightseeing in Seattle. We visited the Pier, Gum Wall, Public Market Center and went sailing. Sailing was my favorite of the trip. You get to see the entire skyline. Me and the girls played a game and enjoyed each other's company while on the boat ride. They have pretty good restaurants at the Pier. We went to the Crab Pot. Most of the time, while in the restaurants, my sisters and I were making fun of each other.
